As expected, there are plenty of easy comparisons to games like Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering . Players start with a certain life total (30 in this case) and use creatures and spells in an attempt to lower the opponent’s life to zero. Much like in Hearthstone , players start with one Magicka (this game’s mana) and gain one additional unit of the resource every t
For those unfamiliar, The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a game that has staked its reputation on being a hybrid of sorts – the same flash and nostalgia that fuels some of Hearthstone ‘s biggest moments with gameplay that is more closely aligned with Magic: the Gathering ‘s complicated, chess-like matches. That’s been Legends ‘ selling point since day one, and it has definitely lived up to the billing, as its gameplay offers refreshing depth while still delivering an epic feel
This time around, Famitsu simply asked its readers to vote their favorite game of all time, without any restriction of release date, genre, or platform. In addition to the readers, the magazine’s own editorial staff, and a sizable panel of celebrities and game developers were asked to vote. Of course, everyone’s votes counted the s
Unsurprisingly, Persona 5 also won its own category (RPG) when Famitsu did a survey about that, Dragon Quest III also ranked second then, but Chrono Trigger , that ranked third, fared worse in this survey. NieR: Automata , on the other hand, held fast in 4th place in both surv
As you probably noticed, the recently-released and extremely successful Dragon Quest XI does not appear in the ranking, and that’s easily explained. It released in Japan on July 29th, over a week after the end of the survey. Due to that unfortunate timing, we won’t be able to know how it would fare against Persona 5 for a wh
Votes were accepted between July 7th and July 18th, and the publication received 5,287 submissions, 55% were from males, 44% from females, and 1% did not disclose their gender. 18% of voters were in their teens, 40% in their twenties, 29% in their thirties, 10% in their forties, 2% in their fifties, and 1% was under ten or over sixty years
Bethesda and Sparkypants Studios announced that their collectible-card game The Elder Scrolls: Legends would be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this year at E3. During QuakeCon 2018, Eurogamer probed Bethesda’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communication Pete Hines about cross-play for the title. He called it an “absolutely critical” feature for the game, but also discussed the issues that will arise with the PS4 version of the g
For those unfamiliar with the project, Elder Scrolls: Legends is a digital collectible card game that takes place, you guessed it, in the Elder Scrolls universe. Players have the option to work through a campaign against the AI to unlock cards, play against real opponents for fun or in ranked matches with pre-constructed decks, or draft a deck in the Arena and play with a limited pool of cards. New packs can be unlocked as rewards, but there will also be in-game transactions that allow players to buy packs of cards with real world mo
Still, lapsed Legends players and hardcore fans will view this as a can’t miss that freshens up the online meta and allows for more deckbuilding variation. The Elder Scrolls: Legends Heroes of Skyrim is an enjoyable expansion that will sate fans of the game until the next set releases and provide some memorable, lore-infused moments along the way, but it does little to attract a new player who wasn’t already interested to check the game
Another set of mechanics that set Legends apart from the Achmavisb.com blog the competition are Runes and Prophecy cards. Players start the game with five runes and lose one rune every time they lose five life. Every time a rune is lost, the player draws a card, and if that card is a Prophecy card type, the player can immediately play it for free. This adds a bit of luck and randomness to the game that will likely anger the more competitive players. That said, giving a player an extra card as they lose life helps keep both players invested in the game and makes it feel like there is always the chance for a comeback. The problem is that sometimes the Prophecy cards really do cause a major comeback and this is going to make people very unhappy when it costs them a game that ‘should’ have been theirs. The mechanic felt great to us and added a unique tension to every damage phase, but we also weren’t battling through competitive ranked ti
“This is a really good question. I imagine the answer is fairly dire but I don’t want to jump to conclusions yet because there’s a lot of space between ‘yes’ and ‘no’. What if they so ‘no’ to this but ‘yes’ to this?” It could present an unforeseen and workable solution. It remains to be s
Trying to imagine carrying out the intricate controls most 2D fighters require for special moves and complex combos is mildly perplexing, but Dragon Ball Legends employs a more simplistic approach. The player is able to dodge attacks and move about the screen by the use of a virtual thumbstick on the touch screen and attack by tapping on different attack cards. It sounds a bit strange to use a card based system for something as frenetic as a Dragon Ball Z face off, but surprisingly this approach works quite well.
