It’s hard to ignore the apparent advantages of playing Minecraft on PC versus a console. With more customizable textures, versions that are several ahead, and an endless wave of mods to integrate into the vanilla game, PC is the definitive platf
So there you have it, the games we would like to most like to see sequels* made for. I guess it’s true that you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. In a perfect world, a developer would see this and say “Hey! That’s a great idea.” But sadly this isn’t a perfect world, so all we can do for now is dream and reminisce. Although all hope isn’t lost, as this year’s E3 is next month, and there is always a possibil
The Half-Life series is recognized as one of the greatest game series of all time. The latest entry, Half-Life: Alyx , is a virtual reality exclusive and is incompatible with a keyboard and mouse setup. This is a series that is continually pushing innovation with gameplay way ahead of its t
As for 2012, well, anyone who knows me well knows that I’m a Metro 2033 fanboy, so my most anticipated title is Metro: Last Light . I’m also a huge fan of Yakuza 3 meaning I’m stoked for Yakuza: Dead Souls , not to mention BioShock Infinite , Prey 2 , Alan Wake: Night Springs , Binary Domain , and Operation Raccoon City as my first Resident Evil game, not to mention I have a nice shiny PlayStation Vita First Edition bundle with my name on it. I also plan to play Mass Effect 3 but I’m trying to keep my hype meter low for that
December means three things for me: KOTOR , KOTOR 2 and The Old Republic, plus a possible co-op playthrough of Resistance 3 . I’m also hoping to catch up on some games I’ve missed such as Shadows of the Damned and Yakuza 4 , and this before I get to all of the games I bought off of Steam’s Fall S
Oh, December. The month when I despair of ever playing all of the games I missed during November. The only new game on my radar for the rest of the year is Mario Kart 7 . Otherwise, it’s all about catching-up. Lord of the Rings: War in the North, Forza Motorsport 4, and Kinect Sports Season 2 continue to be the go-to games in my house, but Rayman: Origins and Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword top the list of games I can’t wait to get lost in over the holidays. I’m also really liking what I’ve seen of the new SSX — if I could play any of next year’s games right now, that would be the
Weapons sway more when aimed down sights, making even simple shots hard to pull off, and the map is filled with sound traps that reveal positions to other teams in a heartbeat. The overall flow and strategy of Hunt make it one of the hardest yet most satisfying games for newcomers to le
After all the money Final Fantasy 7 made you’d figure Square Enix would continue this story in another video game. A CGI movie sequel, Final Fantasy: Advent Children, came out years later , but that was never good enough for me. That’s a different medium. I want to see a video game sequel. I mean Street Fighter 2 had how many sequels before we saw part 3? Square could have done the same. I think Square dropped the ball on that one. It’s not like it would have been difficult to do. Final Fantasy 7 screamed for Valve Trade restrictions a sequel, I thou
The hero even had a shape-shifting dog companion that was a helluva lot more charming and way more awesome than the comparatively socially inept and uncool dogs in Fable 2 and Fallout 3 . I mean, seriously, Square, stop jerking us around with all of this lame Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy VII spin-off crap and get crackin’ on something that used to make you stand out from the crowd of spiky-haired, amnesiac protagoni
The CTs’ weapon of choice, the M4A4 can do it all. It can hold its own in long-range firefights, wipe a rushing team in a single mag, and spam through smokes for what seems like an eternity, all while being fairly easy to use. If it had slightly higher damage, allowing it to one-shot armored opponents to the head, it would be the best weapon in the game. The M4A4 is one of the best weapons at dropping multiple enemies in a single spray thanks to its good mag size, damage, and recoil managem
A few members of the Game Rant crew were discussing which of our favorite titles we haven’t had enough of – and would love to see again in sequel form. The only rule was that titles could have no direct sequel, excluding spin-offs, spiritual successors, or rema
Escape From Tarkov is punishing on all fronts. In most games, players need to lose to learn. Tarkov punishes players for losing though, as all equipment brought into the field is lost upon death. On the flipside, players can get massive rewards for beating another player by taking their loot h
Vagrant Story is my second choice. For starters, it is a Square game, and all of them get sequels. The hero, Ashley Riot, finds himself in a mystery of murder all while having his memories altered. The internal struggle of Ashley trying to figure out his real goal was quite emotio
