What if you heard a knock at the door. Upon opening the door, you find a man standing on your porch barefoot. His cloths are tattered and torn. He is unshaven and he hasn’t had a haircut in 12 months. As he greets you, the man says that he is here to deliver your tax refund check from last year, he simply needs your signature.
New York has a humid climate and sometimes it is classified as humid subtropical climate. The Plateau division of the state has long and cold winters. However the area near the Hudson Valley has comparatively warmer summers but with high level of humidity. The rest of the New York state has pleasant summers marked by few showers.
And so it is now that most of us have not had or used a library card for years. Perhaps our younger generation has never been in a public library. The library now comes to you, and you can search it and multitask in ways that were unimagined before the advent of the personal computer. The smart phone and tablet device is having similar impact on our daily lives. We can stay in touch with virtually anyone instantly. In fact, if you subscribe to all this technology, whether you like it or not, you are always in the loop. You literally have to unplug to escape. Interruption is constant for many of us, and if things quiet down for some, it can become disquieting.
Dogs are territorial animals. Make sure that you introduce pets in a neutral location like a park or neighbor’s front yard so that the New dog will not look like an intruder. Each of them must be on leashes and if possible, must be handled by a separate person.
Amazingly enough – green acorns aren’t poisonous to pigs! They can hoover them up, and they really do hoover, with no ill effect. This year over 500 pigs and piglets were let out in an attempt to save New Forest ponies and other animals from dying, due to the high volume of green acorns which were dropping from the oak trees.
This is the second New Moon in Gemini. The first one was on May 20 at 0*. That Gemini New Moon was also the first Solar Eclipse in 2012. Additionally, this New Moon is at 29* and is greatly strengthened by several factors. For instance, the New Moon peaks just 32 hours before summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and winter solstice in the Southern. Solstices act as energetic gateways, allowing a greater influx of stellar radiation as the axial tilt of the Earth comes to a gravitational stand still for three days.

A new HAM that is trying to get their first contact is just that, new. This is not a bad thing and contacts can be made most often by just changing frequencies to another repeater. SO to any new HAM operator the best advice is don’t give up. Don’t be shy. Keep trying and you will make that first QSO. Most HAM operators are very helpful and will give great advice to help improve your communications. As a new HAM don’t be concerned that you don’t know everything there is to know about using your radio, gid=0 (https://docs.google.com) your antenna, feed lines, or the phonetic alphabet. Station operators that have been on the air for a while will be glad to help, if they can’t help they will refer you to some one who can.
